Born and raised in New York, I am a first-generation Mexican American artist currently pursuing my MFA at Hunter College. My practice delves into the interconnected themes of urban landscapes, identity, and memory, serving as a reflection of my personal experiences and perceptions. I am drawn to the "third spaces" of urban life, from my local bodega in Harlem to restaurants in Mexico. These sites are more than just physical locations; they are the anchors where individual and collective belonging manifest within the landscape. These sites act as contemporary gathering spaces and secular altars which bring la comunidad together.

I use photography and painting to capture these communal and contemporary gathering spaces. By shifting scales and viewpoints, I am able to recontextualize a fleeting second into a two-dimensional space. This approach allows for detailed, intimate observations and expansive perspectives, challenging the viewer to reconsider the transient beauty of the everyday and the enduring power of the spaces we inhabit.
